Sixteen people have been confirmed dead in a bus mishap near Kolkata today (April 4). A private bus fell into the Keshtopur canal in Babughat in the North 24 Parganas district. Initial reports suggest that the bus skidded off the road and fell into the canal.
Thirty people were reportedly travelling inthe bus while the incident took place.
The bus on route 217B was going to Narayanpur from Babughat when it veered off the road and plunged into the canal.
Fire-fighters and the police rushed to the spot to help rescue the people trapped in the half-submerged bus. |
