United States of America has reportedly offered to help India with International Military Education and Training. IMET is a program under which US military trains butchers in Georgia's School of the Americas. Some of the worst killers of the 3rd world have come from this school. El Salvador's D'Aubisson was one.
Haiti's criminal military men too from this notorious school.Indonesians were trained here. Chilean murderers were trained here. US govt spends about 50,000,000 US $ per year to train non-government personnel or civilians in countries which it chooses according to its foreign policy dictums and time. Though teh major part of its attention have been in Latin America over these years it has looked upon Indonesia and Phillepines in asia as its base. Of late with teh change of government in India USA planned its activities here too. The BJP has hailed this "cooperation". According to the plans Indian military and select civilians will be trained in latest commando activities and provided with latest equipments. In exchange Us will seek protection of its installations, the MNC and Industrial installations and its civilians in India.

 It can be recalled that recruits from the same Instituation masterminted the coup against Danil Ortega, the Sandinista leader. Till noe, U.S. policy in Latin America continues to be driven by the belief that Latin America's militaries are its most capable and reliable allies. U.S.-funded training programs strengthen military-to-military ties-a process that historically has undermined civilian institutions and fueled human rights abuses throughout Latin America. The long-standing Pentagon claim that it is not responsible for a few bad apples who receive U.S. training was belied last year by the declassification of torture manuals used at the School of the Americas and for training elsewhere in Latin America.

It is in this background that the collaboration on Indian govt and US on IMET is viewed with suspicion. as it is the BJP and RSS , has never bothered to hide its fascist tendencies. It is feared that it may use IMET to train parts of Indian Military agaisnt its opponents in India. Protests against this aggreements are already underway.
