The following is a list of anti-Christian violence in various parts of Gujarat since Christmas day December 25: Subir village, Navjyot Singh school run by Jesuits burnt late in the evening by 100 youth wearing Bajrang Dal headbands. Fr. Antony and Fr Osborne injured in stoning and hospitalised. Motorcycle and jeep torched. December 25: Ahwa, District HQ, Deep Darshan School and hostel run by Vedrunite Sisters destroyed by hundreds of hooligans belonging to Hindu Jagran Manch. December 26: Vakai Village Near Ahwa, mob of 500 attack and burn church, damage houses, loot shops. Seven persons hurt when one opens fire with his gun. December 26: Stones hurled at a church in Limbayat (Surat district) vehicle parked in its compound torched. December 27: Four churches stoned including one near Mulchand village seven kilometers from Ahwa, at Bartal 50 kms from Ahwa, another at Baripara 45 kms from Ahwa and at Tahar Khandvel 40 kms from Ahwa. December 29: Two churches torched, another chapel attacked, saffron flag planted in the fourth one The churches which have come under attack are in Vyara taluka in Surat in the villages of Takiamba-Dadia, Baumia and Kavanchkhed. Churchs priest and nun waylaid by the mob and his jeep burnt. Mob attacked church at Besunia village and hoisted RSS flag on top of the church building. Chapel attacked in village Dadakvan in Vyara Taluka in Surat. |
