Again we have witnessed a peaceful process of completing school leaving examinations in West Bengal. Involving more than one millions students in West Bengal, secondary, higher secondary, ICSE and CBSE examinations were held smoothly. These examinations are really treated as the gateway of our citizen's future. Through these examinations students have the scope to select their avenues in personal career. Particularly millions of guardians are sincerely concerned about these examinations as their wards are to establish themselves in academic as well as in professional life. Before the year 1977 our state has witnessed very bad days in academic arena. During that period, irregular examinations, mass copying, terrorising students and assaulting teachers were the daily features. Left Front Government has transformed the entire situation by prohibiting mass copying, terrorising and disruption in educational Institutions. For the last 22 years, West Bengal having peaceful academic environment with regular classes, examinations, publication of results and admission to higher studies in a proper way. Through the policy of state government the number of students in all categories have been increased but there is no question of chaos and trouble only in 1997 and in 1998 there were some disruption in the process of Central examinations engineered by a group of people with vested interest. That minimum chaos was manifested in a big way through our local media. But this year, it was a total peaceful affair as the examinations took place in a very methodical and disciplined way.
