| Editorial Clear Mandate Needed J ust after 14 months, India is again going to face 13th Parliament election. BJP led opportunist alliance has failed to continue its rule due to internal rivalry between opportunist partners. Vajpayee Governments mal activities and misgovernance has led their defeat in the vote of confidence. After their defeat in the vote of confidence there was a possibility of forming an alternative government by either Congress or Third Front. But the Congress and Third Front has failed to give a shape of an alternative government due to the attitude of Sonia Gandhi and Mulayam Singh Yadav. Through it was not expected the Parliament election will be held within a very pre-matured gap of 14 months but the people of India is in he sense of relief at the exit of the worst government, country has had since independence. There has not been a single area of public life where the policies of performances of this government had made India as a country more vulnerable. The most opportunist alliance, led by Atal Behari Vajpayee has only exposed its commitment towards RSS vision of Hindu Rashtra. In the field of economy, "Videshiana" has been implemented in the name of "Swadeshiana, which mortgaged out our country. Vajpayee government has pushed India into a nuclear arms races undermining good neighborly relations. BJP alliance government has misused Article 356 in Bihar and shamelessly appointed their men in the posts of governor. BJP led government had set the unmated record of divisive, reactionary, communal and chauvinist misgovernance accompanied by unscrupulous abandonment of all norms of political morality. Within the 13 months tenure we have seen the internal squabbles between their partners in different times. The feuds between Samata Party and TMC; TDP and BJP; AIDMK and BJP; Akali and BJP have cropped up and exposed publicly. In the very beginning of the government's tenure AIADMK minister was dropped from the cabinet. Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee was always under pressure from RSS, Samata Party, AIADMK, Akali Dal to execute any governmental decision. These events led to the fall of Vajpayee government in the floor of the house. The current situation of certainty emerges out of the 13 months long Vajpayee government's internal squabbles. This election is a real chance for the Indian people to give a clear verdict in favour of democracy and secularism. This election can only provide a mandate against communalism and anti-people economic policy, We hope the ensuing poll will favour the left democratic and secular forces to lead the nation in future. 26th April 1999. |
