A Fuel storage unit bombed by NATO

The NATO-bombing to Yugoslavia, a sovereign European country, member of the UN, is already in its 25th day. It consists a clear violation of every International law. Already from the very first day WFDY and a lot of member Organizations from all continents are organizing protest demonstrations against the bombing, and solidarity events to the Yugoslav Youth and people. Despite the huge and massive protest of WFDY and the other peace loving forces allover the world, the US-government and the other NATO- states are continuing the barbarous military operations, in the name of the protection of the Human Rights. They intervene in an independent and sovereign country, they spread death and horror to Yugoslav people, provocatively ignoring even the Security Council of the UN. This war is threatening to spread out over the region.
It is clear that the NATO is using the Kossovo-question, as a pretext, for implementing their plans of the control of the Balkan region. Victims of this criminal attack are the total population of Yugoslavia, regardless nationality, religion or language. Not even one NATO-bomb helped the Kossovo-population, including the refugees, and of course this was not at all the intention. We express our solidarity with all the people of Yugoslavia, because all of them are the tragic victims of this war.
We believe that both the Serb and Kossovo peoples, as well as the other peoples of the Balkans are able to solve their problems peacefully, by themselves and without any foreign intervention. The existing problem in Yugoslavia can be solved through peaceful negotiations. Involving all parties concerned.
The delegation of the World Federation of Democratic Youth came to Belgrade in order:
To express in the center of the war itself, the solidarity of WFDY and its member Organizations to the Yugoslav Youth and people in their suffering from the imperialist aggression of NATO in the recent 25 days.

To express in particular our serious concern about the hundreds of thousands of Kossovo refugees, which are living a tragedy.

To condemn from the theatre of the military operation, the US and the other NATO member states for the inhuman and illegal attack towards a sovereign and independent country, without even the consultation of the UN Security Council.

To express clearly the demand for immediate stop of the bombings of NATO and its withdrawal from the Balkans as well as WFDY’s support for a peaceful political solution of the Kossovo-question with all the involved parties, with the respect of the rights of the population in Kossovo and other minorities, without any foreign interventions.

During our stay in Belgrade we became witnesses of the huge humanitarian catastrophe, with tens of bombed civilian targets, destroyed factories, hospitals and other civic targets. We strongly condemn this barbarism and we express our sympathy and solidarity to the victims.
We salute the massive, anti-war, anti-imperialist demonstrations of youth that take place every day all over the world. From Belgrade we are sending a message to the world progressive Youth, to continue and to strengthen all forms of protest towards this aggression. WFDY will take initiatives in this spirit
