Yes, only the electorate can and shall decide whether next Prime Minister of India, videshi or swadeshi.

The Indians have no point to worry. Rather, they should feel proud that some of their brethren, yes India-born, have had the privilege to be the Prime Minister of some foreign countries. Guyana, Fiji, Mauritius, Trinidad are some such countries. Canada has India-born MPs. Neither of them were or are nominated, but elected by the people of those countries. If the people of these countries could elect the persons of Indian origin as their PMs and MPs, why should the Indians have any objection to do so in vice-versa?

It is the BJP which, of late, has been trumpeting the issue of foreign origin, thanks to its ultra-nationalistic approach. BJPs intention is understandable. But what makes the Pawar-Sangma-Tariq troika to mouth the BJP slogan. Not much long ago, after Vajpayee's trust vote defeat, this Pawar as the leader of Congress MPs in Lok Sabha was one among others to call on the President of India and staked claim for a Congress government headed by Sonia Gandhi. After the Lok Sabha was dissolved and the Election Commission was asked to arrange for holding a fresh election to Lok Sabha, what made Pawar to change his mind? Is it the chances of Congress coming back to power are brighter this tune and so Pawar is paving ground for himself to be PM beforehand?

What the troika has written is bunkum. Madam, you remain President of the party, campaign for its victory but don't claim to be Prime Minister, leave that to one of us! Is it not the underlying message of their letter? With this, the troika has revealed its true colour. Yes, this is also the true colour of majority of the post-independence Congressites.
