To save our country from disaster and disintegration more representation of Left Front forces in Parliament is necessary. If BJP JB in Murshidabad elec99.JPG (32046 bytes)comes to power the very unity of our country will be at stake. However indications are there that niether BJP nor any other party will get absolute majority. It will be another hung parliament after the election. In that case Left Forces will have to play a major role in forming a secular government at the centre. CPI(M) Politbureau member Jyoti Basu said this while addressing two mamoth rallies held in Lalbag(Murshidabad) and Calcutta on 10th September and 8th September respectively. Those were Basu's first two election meetings, which added a momentum to Left Fron'ts massive political campaign in West Bengal. The rallies were held in support of Left Front nominated CPI(M) candidate Mainul Hasan at Murshidabad constituency, Abul Hasnat Khan of CPI(M) at Jangipure and Pramathesh Mukherjee RSP at Baharampore and Rajdeo Goala of CPI(M) at Calcutta North-West constituency. Despite heavy rain lakhs of people attended the rally at Lalbagh Astabal Maidan, while the rally in Calcutta was also a massive one.

Basu said neither BJP nor Congress serve people's interest. Whatever they promise to the people, forget to implement it after getting elected. Basu said, this years, national election scenario is somewhat compicated. However our main task will be to defeat and isolate BJP. But this does not mean that we want Congress in place of BJP, we the Leftists want to see a secular government at the centre. So we appeal to the people to vote for Left Front candidates. However there are many constituencies in our country where Left Parties have no candidate. In that case voters should vote for any secular candidate, who has the capacity to defeat the BJP, even if that candidate belongs to Congress. Basu said, every body should try to understand the real political situation of our country. We have major differences with the Congress on policy matters. But we dont consider Congress as a communal party, however it has compromised with the communal forces several times in last five decades. But the BJP is a dangerous party in true sense of the term. BJP speaks of 'Hindutva', which has no relation with the Hinduism. Never in history any Hindu religious leader ever advocated for destroying Masjids. We do not know why the BJP people are attacking the Christian community of our country, which is mere 2.5 percent of our population. That is why we call the BJP as uncivilisiced and barbarie.

Basu said, the BJP government at the centre has failed in every front. What benifit we got from Pokhran blast? Pakistan has also retaliated with their nuclear blast. The BJP people claim that the Kargil victory is their credit. However credit should go to our jawans who fought valiantly. What was Mr. Vajpayee doing when the Pak infilarators crossed the LOC and entered into Indian territory? Why the government's intelligence department failed? It was due to the calousness of BJP government, 500 jawans had to lay their lives.

Basu said, the BJP people are talking of Swadeshi, but in reality they are inviting foreign multinationals and destroying our economic self-relieance. They are closing down PSUs. They also have announceed to close down 68 public sector collieries of our country, while importing coal from Australia. Their economic policy have increased unemployment, though they promised 1 crore employment in every year. Critisising the TMC Basu said, people of West Bengal should teach a lesson to them as they have invited the communal BJP in our state.
