The All India democratic Women’s Association strongly protested against the demand of the external affairs ministry to the French government to grant diplomatic immunity to the ministry official in Paris said to be involved in the prolonged sexual abuse of his minor domestic worker. In a statement Brinda Karat General Secretary of the AIDWA said that, this will be clear misuse of the privilege accorded to diplomatic officials.

The chare against him are horrific. Investigations are under way. If he has been framed for motivated reasons as is being made out by the ministry the investigation will bring it out. In the meanwhile it is shameful that in a totally misplaced and unwarranted show of solidarity the ministry has gone out of its way to defend its official. Let the investigation be carried out in a free and impartial manner. Till then there should be no confrontation with the French government. This brings shame to the entire country", she said
