It started off with a huge campaign in 1984 to vote for this highly educated Doctorate lady. And on victory she herself went on to allow herself to be called to even in the LokSabha who’s who. However the mystery was soon unravelled as to how she could earn a doctorate degree from the USA without ever going there. One thing led to another and it was dug out that there didn’t even existed an university named East Georgia in USA from where Mamata had supposedly done her Ph.D.

However despite having to face severe criticism from a section of the media and from political opponents for even faking a degree she went on to call herself a doctorate even till the last elections. Even then there used to be wall writings and posters calling to vote for Dr Mamata. But things seem to have changed this time. On being repeatedly been pointed out by CPI(M) and even Chief Minister Jyoti Basu, she supposedly lost her cool and questioned qualifications of Basu in a quite foolish manner. When Basu gave details of his past and asked same from Banerjee she again cooed off.

Now, fooling around with gullible people may be one thing and fooling an international audience may not be the same, and she or her campaign managers having realized this has quietly dropped her credential in the web site the party has put up recently. In which among many more necessary things she has name her party ‘Paschim Bengal Trinamul Congress’.
