| NEWS NOTES Party route to Delhi ministers
Staff reporter T he CPI(M) has made it clear all ministers and MPs of West Bengal will have to go through either police minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya or Parliamentarian Somnath Chatterjee if they are to talk to Union Ministers in the future. Any memorandum to be presented or interviews sought with Union ministers will have to have the clearance of either of these two party leaders. The state party secretary Anil Biswas has said in an official statement that this was nothing new that the fresh directive had been necessiated only because there were many new parliamentarians as well as state ministers who were not familiar with the procedures. Biswas said that this would be made mandatory and strictly followed in the event of meeting even foreign delegations. ``We are a disciplined cadre-based party. There are rules that all of us have to follow. There cannot be deviations from this, he said. He said that as convenor of the sub-committee of the state ministry, Bhattacharya would report on these meeting and representations to the party secretariat periodically. On the new announcements of the railways minister Mamata Banerjee, Biswas said that there was nothing radically different from what had been proposed earlier but that the state government as well as the party would definitely help the minister in any development projects for West Bengal. ``We are always ready to cooperate, he added. |
