New Governor Viren Shah is the new Bengal Governor

Viren J.Shah, former chairman of the Mukand group of industries, was sworn in as the new Governor of West Bengal on Satruday. He took his oath in Banglaat the Raj Bhavan from the acting chief justice of the Calcutta High Court.

Shah, who spent his childhood in Calcutta and grew up in the city, becomes the state’s governor at a time when industry in the state is seeing a resurgence and his proximity to the captains of industry will no doubt serve to create an atmosphere which will attract investments. In fact, during the swearing-in ceremony , almost the entire cream of the nation’s industry was out in full strength alongwith a smattering of Union ministers and other VIP guests. Chief Minister Jytoi Basu was also present.
