From India News Network(INN) Vehemently condemning the concerted attempt of the imperialism-aided extremists and anti-left front political parties to spark an ethnic showdown and thereby stagger the left front government in Tripura with the next years Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTADC) elections in view, the CPI(M) gives a fervent call to all sections of the peace-loving and patriotic people to unitedly combat this conspiracy. This emerged from the statement issued yesterday following the December 7-8 session of the party state committee. The statement also gives a call to the people and all democratic mass organisations to organise a most massive movement statewide against the devastatively anti-people economic and other policies of the centre. The session was attended and addressed by the party Polit Bureau member Prakash Karat present the party central committees evaluation and guideline in respect of the recent political situation in the country.Reviewing threadbare the recent situation inside the state, the CPI(M) has noted with deep concern that since the Kargil conflict, the ISI and the CIA have stepped up their subversive activities in the North-East including Tripura through an intensified sponsorship of extremist outfits in killing and kidnapping innocent ordinary people as well security personnel, the present momentum in militancy in the state is the direct outcome of the despair and desperation among the internal and international vested interest as well as political sources due to the left fronts vigorous victory in the free and fair panchayat and parliamentary polls this year as well as the simultaneous Santirbazar assembly bye-poll, the party maintains. Now, with he ADC elections due in the middle of next year, the separatist militant outfits and the anti-left front political parties have devised the heinous strategy of instigation for ethnic cleansing of ADC areas by means of a sharp spurt of extremist barbarities in these hilly areas, and reciprocally expulsive attacks on the innocent tribals of the urban plains of the state by the parties like Congress, BJP, Trinamul Congress, Amara Bangalee etc. capitalising on the incidents of extremist attacks in the mixed population ADC areas. On the other hand, with the same inflammatory motive, the NLFT extremists are carrying out forcible conversions to Christianity at places and issuing dictates of cultural conservationism, while the RSS is trying to extend its fundamentalist activities to promote its communal ideologies and spark sectarian spite. All this concerned conspiracy is being constantly furthered by the maligning and misinformation mill of a section of the local press. Such coalescing of heterogeneous anti-left front forces has been all the more exposed by the negative and non-chalant attitude of the anti-left front political parties in the recent all party meeting convened by the Tripura chief minister with a view to effectively combating insurgency and consolidating peace and harmony in the state. Despite having no slightest scope to oppose the 6 point apolitical proposal put forward by the chief minister in the interest of the state and its people, the opposition parties declined to issue a joint communiqué in favour of such proposal from the meeting, just to oppose the state government and to press for presidents rule. Also, in complete non-cognizance of the prolonged and staunch struggle of the CPI(M) against the separatist militants in the state in the teeth of the serial killings and kidnappings of the partys activists and supporters by NLFT and ATTF extremists, and inspite of his taking full cognizance for foreign forces behind the state extremists, the veteran BJP leader K.R. Malkani, after recently visiting the state, has demanded central intervention instead of an all out central assistance to this massively mandated state government to combat the extremists endangering national integration. On top of it al, even after the elapsing of two weeks, since the raising of specific demands and proposals by the Tripura chief minister in his meeting with the prime minister and union home minister in New Delhi, no action has been taken at all by the centre towards assistance except verbal assurance to replenish the states military and para-military forces to the pre-Kargil level. Meanwhile, the absence of even a single military unit and the porous international border in the state have been boosting a spate of extremist violence in Tripura. The CPI(M) urges the people to hugely intensify the united democratic movement statewide to isolate and corner the extremists and their aids and to pressure the centre into assisting the state government and also against the devastatively anti-people and pro-capitalist policy of the centre being implemented with a hectic speed. |
