Staff Reporter

Non resident Indians will be making a beeline to talk business in West Bengal during the Biswa Banga Sammelan to be held here at the century end. The sub-committee of the Sammelan which has been entrusted to look after this endeavour has aptly called it the ``Initiative Forum.’’

More than 6,000 NRIs will be coming for the meet, among them at least 25 experts in their fields. The Forum will take off at the Taj Bengal on December 30. The chief minister will inaugurate the Forum on that day while the chairman of the West Bengal Industrial development Corporation (WBIDC) Somnath Chatterjee will also be present alongwith members of the West Bengal state ministry.

There will be a question-answer session at which various queries regarding the state’s industrial climate and other areas will be addressed to by the deputy chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya and the state finance minister Asim Dasgupta. The efforts will be on to dispel unfounded fears about the state’s industrial climate which is being made a political weapon to beat the Left Front government with. Papers and MoUs pertaining to the Destination Bengal conference held at Raichak in January this year shall be kept handy to convince the industrialists about the industrial climate of West Bengal.
