CPSTU extends
Support to Port & Dock Workers Struggle

Appeals all PSU unions to express
solidarity.
The Committee of Public Sector Trade Unions (CPSTU), the united platform of public sector
workers movement all over the country comprising PSU trade unions affiliated to AITUC,
CITU, HMS, Joint Action Front-Bangalore, PSU Trade Union Coordination Committee- Hyderabad
and various other independent trade unions extends full support to the decision for
indefinite strike from 18th January 2000 in all the Ports and Docks of the country,
jointly by the Port & Dock workers unions and federations affiliated to AITUC, CITU,
HMS and INTUC demanding wage revision without any DPE conditionalities and against
move of the government for so called liberalisation of Port and Dock sector and service
condition of the concerned workers.
CPSTU while urging upon the government of India to concede to the just demands of the Port
and Dock workers, appeals to all public sector trade unions irrespective of
affiliations to come forward in support of the united countrywide struggle of the port and
dock workers and express solidarity by organising trade union action, as deemed fit
including holding of demonstration, gate meetings etc in all the public sector
units/centres on 18th January 2000 and sending telegrams of minister of Surface
Transport, government of India, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi in support
of the demands and indefinite strike action..
