Benazir backs hijack
Report T he former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has for all practical purposes supported the hijacking of IC 814 when she said in a written statement that the incident had helped ``internationalise the Kashmir problem. Bhutto, who is living in exile in London, said that there was also not much of an evidence to prove that Pakistan was behind the hijacking and tried to play down the role of the ISI in the incident. In the mean time, an official source in New Delhi has said that the government had foolproof evidence of a fake Indian currency-making mint in Peshawar in Pakistan and that such notes were being routed to terrorists in India. In this context, the source also pointed out that the unearthing of the mint in Peshawar becomes doubly significant in view of the disclosure that a Pakistani embassy official in Kathmandu had been arrested for complicity and involvement in routing such notes through Nepal into India. Bhutto said that India had almost always seen Pakistani involvement in terrorist activities against the country but had never ever been able to prove anything. She said that it was high time that both the countries sat together and thrashed the issues out amicably.
