| Editorial Jungle Raj in Bihar A tal Bihari Vajpayee's nominee in the Governor house of Bihar is again active to form a NDA Government at the cost of democratic principles.Blatantly ignoring the people's mandate, Governor of Bihar has led the state to a place of political uncertainty. According to the election result, NDA, clearly does not enjoy the majority in the house and has less numbers than the RJD alliance Bihar Governor Mr. Vinod Pande has called Nitish Kumar to form the government clearly denying the strength of RJD alliance. Foisting an NDA Government in Bihar against the expressed mandate of the people of Bihar is nothing but an attempt to invite "Jungle Raj" in Bihar. Similar to the infamous government in UP, Bihar Governor has betrayed all canons of democratic practices by giving NDA an opportunity that they could not achieve through the ballot box. Governor's decision has errupted people's fury throughout the state. To combat the people's agitation, police has resorted to unprovoked firing and lathi charge in which one person is reportedly killed and several injured. Bihar Governor's undemocratic role is leading to several undemocratic, semi fascist actions. We have also witnessed such type of actions by BJP sponsored governor of Bihar in last 2 years. They are desperate to form a NDA Government in Bihar at any cost. we must be cautious on their move and should organise public opinion to combat this actions. 6th March, 2000. |
