By Avik Dutta Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee of the Chatterjee Group, co-promoter of the Haldia project, wants to invest more in other projects in West Bengal. "I have a dream about Bengal. I love Bengal. I am trying to do something for my state. I dont know how much I will succeed but I will try, he said, shortly after the launch of the HPL project.The Global Institute of Science and Technology is next on his list of priorities. ``There is vast human resources here and there is no reason why they should not be utilised, he said. Speaking to Ganashakti exclusively, Dr Chatterjee said that he had gone to the US in 1971 and had turned wide-eyed at the way the West functioned with its faultless and flawless technology. "I was vastly impressed. But not any longer. Now I want to import all of that to my country, he added. Says Chatterjee, This project would not have been possible had it not been for Mr Basus encouragement and active participation. This project will set an example to the rest of the country. We had faced many problems but overcame all of them slowly because of our sincerity. We will now have to ensure that no compromises are made on quality and that the project runs at a profit, he said. |
