The Opposition may cry hoarse about coming to power in West Bengal but the Left Front will continue to be in government, the chief minister Jyoti Basu has said. Addressing huge rally at Sagar on Saturday, Basu said that the Front had done yeoman service for the people of the state which the people had understood and would stand by the government in the future.

He said that the Sunderbans area was ideally suited for a nuclear power station and that the Front government would try and ensure the setting up of the unit here. Basu also said that he was happy to learn that the literacy rate in the Sagar Islands was close to 97 per cent but that it was strange that there was no college in the area. ``I hope to see that education level in the islands grow substantially so that once the next committee report comes out, then we can proudly say that we have attained a full literacy quota here," he said.
