As was expected, the so-called mahajot is already in trouble with a majority of the workers wanting Mamata Banerjee and not A.B.A.Khan Choudhury to lead the alliance. However, Ghani Khan, despite his failing health and advancing years, has been promised by the Trinamool leader that he will lead the alliance as and when it is formed without any power struggle and other glitches and he is not giving up. In fact, on Sunday, Ghani Khan made it clear that he was all for the alliance under his leadership and also made it clear that nothing of the lust for power which characterised him earlier has gone away. he said that if the rank and file of the Congress did not accept the mahajot under Priya Ranjan Das Munshi's orders and wishes, then he was ready to leave the party. So desperate is Ghani Khan nowadays. Ghani Khan has also made it clear that the mahajot was not meant to join hands with the BJP.He said that alliance was with Banerjee and not the BJP. However, Banerjee herself is not so sure and has not said anything whether she would be willing to sever links with the BJP if the mahajot is actually formed. All in all, it is a maha confusion at the Opposition level in West Bengal.
