
| NEWSNOTES AIDWA Protests Price Hike
From India News Network(INN) T he All India Democratic Womens Association in Orissa has organised protest actions against the recent hike in prices of essential commodities like rice, wheat, kerosene, cooking gas, fertilizer etc by the BJP led central government. More than 1.5 crore people of Orissa who are worst affected by the super cyclone and flood are severely affected by the anti people decision of the government. On 10th April scorching heat more than 500 women marched to the governors house at Bhubaneswar, led by the state secretary Tapashi Praharaj, president Usha Tripathy, Puspanjali Panda, Banaja Mishra, Arati Palei, Subhra Mukharjee, Binodini Dash and Sabita Baraj. The participants in a colourful procession carried empty posts, lanterns and gas cylinders to mark the protest and staged civil disobedience. Later a delegation of women leaders met the governor and handed over the memorandum demanding the reversal of anti-people decision. In the meeting held in front of Raj Bhawan the leaders while criticising the BJP led government and the coalition government of the state for their anti people policies also warned agitations in future. |
